Bell’s Hopsoulution – Double India Pale Ale 2018

Today I’m diving in head first to Bell’s Hopsoulution Double IPA – this is a yearly April only release from Bell’s that a few of you have been asking about. Bell’s describes it as a remarkably drinkable Double IPA that pays tribute to one of Mother Nature’s finest creations, as several hop varietals combine for massive aromas of tropical fruit, citrus and pine. A mild caramel malt character and dry finish provide balance. Stay tuned to see!

Mitten Brewing Company – Country Strong

The Mitten Brewing Company in Grand Rapids is probably one of my favorite breweries to hang out in, every time I’m on the west side of the state, I make it a point to stop in and check out what’s on tap. I was really surprised and happy when I was able to get my hands on Country Strong, their first commercially distributed release. Country Strong is a 7.2% American IPA that captures a lot of what I like in an IPA. What are those? Watch and find out!

Founders Brewing Company – Backwoods Bastard 2018 Review

It was only about a week and a half ago that Founders released KBS nationwide, and we’ve already got the second release of their Barrel Aged Series – Backwoods Bastard. While this time around, Backwoods Bastard is a year round release rather than a limited edition, how does it stack up against it’s 2017 counterpart that was released only about 6 months prior? Well if that’s actually a question that’s been keeping you up at night, you’re in luck! I’m not only reviewing 2018’s Backwoods Bastard, but I’m conducting a vertical tasting up against the 2017 variety!

Transient Artisan Ales – Cromulent American Pale Ale

I’m finally checking out one of Transient Artisan Ales beers – Cromulent. Cromulent is an American Pale Ale, that has some very striking similarities to what we think of as hazy new england style IPAs. Was Cromulent worth the wait, or should I have gone with Obligatory first? Watch and find out!

Griffin Claw Brewing – Faux Pas, a Hazy Hoppy Hef

Today, I think is a first for me – I’m reviewing Griffin Claw’s Faux Pas, a hazy hoppy hef. Beeradvocate lists this as a “Belgian IPA”, which is what I call it in the video, but I think that’s a gross mischaracterization. If anything, the label is true and this is a hazy Hefeweizen. Now you may be saying, all hef’s are hazy, because that’s exactly what I said, but this has a fruity taste that I’ve never experienced before in a hef.
