Today I’m gonna briefly get into the difference between wet and dry hopping, talk about clowns smashing cake in your kid’s face on their birthday, and Founder’s Harvest Ale, a wet-hopped IPA. What makes wet-hopping so great, and where can you find that clown? Watch to find out!
Ascension Brewing Company just celebrated their 3rd anniversary this past weekend (September 29th, 2018) and to commemorate the event, they had 4 beer releases – two version of “Just Toorf”, a Rye Barrel Aged Gorilla Juice (weighing in at a whopping 19% abv) and the beer I have here today – Milennials. Milennials is a 7% Imperial Berliner-Weisse that’s been brewed with Sour Candy (aka sour patch kids), and while I abstained from trying it at their anniversary release, I’m totally looking forward to trying it on today’s video!
This right here… is an anomaly – it is the first ever non-sour IPA that Jolly Pumpkin has ever released. If you don’t believe me that it’s a non-sour IPA and that it’s from Jolly Pumpkin, you can take a gander at the label for yourself. This was released exclusively at Jolly Pumpkin’s Dexter Taproom during the Zwanze Day 2018 celebration, which yours truly attended. Keep your eyes open for my first ever Beer Fest Vlog at Zwanze Day, which should be coming out in the next few days. In the meantime, watch this review and get my impressions on Jolly Pumpkin’s first ever non-sour IPA!
Founders has released their beer commemorating Art Prize for 2018 and this time around, it’s Trigo – a hoppy american lager. I know 2017’s Green Zebra was a really big favorite of mine last year – it basically opened the door to the world of sours for me. Will Trigo do the same thing with lagers for you? Stay tuned to find out!
The third in New Holland’s Dragon’s Milk Reserve line for 2018 is Banana and Coconut. I have to admit I was a little skeptical when I heard that banana was involved. Much like my opinion on coconut, bananas can be good when done right, but there’s a fine line between being good and too much, which will almost always put you squarely into “yuck” territory for me. Well today I’ll be taking a look at Banana Coconut Dragon’s Milk Reserve, which is New Holland’s premiere bourbon barrel aged stout. With a much classier new label design, does the beer inside match the facelift that was provided on the outside? Watch and find out more!
I’ve been waiting patiently for this to hit the shelves, and guess what… IT’S FINALLY HERE! Roak’s French Toast Devil Dog is finally hitting shelves – I’ve enjoyed it immensely on tap, but it’s almost more exciting that I can take it home any time I can find it! Hmmm, but do I like it? Should it only be enjoyed on tap? Watch and find out!
I feel like there aren’t that many more firsts, style wise, for this channel, but today I have a brand spanking new beer style, and it’s the Brut IPA. Today’s Brut IPA comes to us from Brewery Vivant in Grand Rapids, Michigan – and it’s Champion Brut. Brut’s are more known in the champagne world, but in the IPA world, they’re known for having a very dry finish due to the yeasts that are being used. So sit back, relax, have a brut IPA and watch this review!
White Flame Brewing Company is a brewery I’ve been eyeing for a while – and while I was travelling to the west side of the state, I stopped in a bottle shop to see what kind of goodies I could get my hands on, I noticed this striking White Flame can. Mo’Peez looks much like a Sunkist orange pop label, and it’s smash IPA heritage really had me licking my chops.
Released in conjunction yearly with their Fury for a Feast festival, Witch’s Hat is at it again and today I have 2018’s Traxxx Night Fury – a 13.5% Bourbon Barrel Aged Imperial Stout. This is the first time that I’ve had Traxxx, and I have viewer Randy Peiffer to thank for that. I’ll be diving in with an open mind, but was it worth the wait? You’ll just have to watch to find out!
I’ve really turned my opinion on sour beers around in the last year or so, and the sour style that’s lead the charge for me have been the gose style. Watermark Brewing Company in Stevensville has realeased a Lime Gose, and called it Margarita Melon Heads, and I’m gonna give that a try today on the channel. Where does Margarita Melon Heads rank in the style? Stay tuned to find out more!
