Founders Brewing Company – KBS 2018 – The First Barrel Aged Series Release of the Year!

KBS is the first in Founder’s Barrel aged series of 2018. We know the next release will be Backwoods Bastard, which will become year-round after it’s release, but the rest of the Barrel Aged Series are unknowns. I picked this up, today – March 6th, so this review is from a bottle that’s as fresh as possible. KBS week started on March 5th, and will be rolling out after a limited taproom release so look for it soon!

Brewery Vivant – Wizard Burial Ground – Put on your Robe and Wizard Hat

I’m back at it again with another from Brewery Vivant, and this time it’s a doozy. Wizard Burial Ground is their limited, once a year release and they really try to blow the doors off the sucka with it. This is a bourbon barrel aged belgian style quad that will make you feel like you’ve just been struck by a lightening bolt. Weighing in at 11.8% for the 2017 release, don’t be surprised if it casts polymorph on you and transforms you into a drunken version of yourself.

Founders CBS 2017 Review – The Final of the Barrel Aged Series for 2017 – Was it Worth the Wait?

Founders CBS was the most anticipated beer from the Grand Rapids Michigan Brewery. As the 6th and final beer of their “Barrel Aged” series, they had hop-heads and malt mavens anxiously awaiting it’s December 1st release. Well friends, that day has finally come and I was finally able to get my hands on it to bring it to you. I usually avoid buying tickets for beer releases because it’s usually not that much of an issue to buy beers like this if you know where to look. In the case of CBS, this seems like it’s more readily available outside of Founders home state of Michigan, which really leaves me scratching my head. Has Founders forgotten about it’s hometown fans, or have distributors just taken the beer where they’re sure it will sell? That’s not a question I can answer unfortunately – but what I can do is bring you my unbiased review.

Brewery Vivant’s Tart Side of the Moon – A Tart Imperial Stout?

My mind was kind of blown when I tried Brewery Vivant’s Pumpin Tart, because it took what I liked about pumpkin ales and added that extra twist of tartness. Well, guess what? They’re back at it again and this time it’s a tart imperial stout called “Tart Side of the Moon”. Weighing in at 9.5%, it’s sure to be a doozy.

Founders Backwoods Bastard 2017 Review – Could this Be the Best of Founder’s Barrel Aged Series?

ackwoods Bastard is Founders 5th in their 2017 barrel aged series lineup – following Frootwood, KBS, Doom and DKML. Backwoods Bastard is a BBA Scotch Ale, which follow’s Founders trends of releasing a different style for each of the beers in their barrel aged series.

While Backwoods Bastard is the fifth in their bourbon barrel aged series, an unnamed beer is slated to release in December – many speculate this may be CBS (Canadian Breakfast Stout), but that is unconfirmed by Founders so far, and hasn’t been released since 2014.
