It’s hard to not compare this to Odd Side’s other recent bourbon barrel aged stout – Hazel’s Nuts. While they seem to be very similar on the outside, I found that they were quite different when compared against each other. A friend of mine (whatup Dave!) called me from his local bottle shop to let me know that they had this new Boatyard NE Style IPA, and I was anxious to try it. I have never had a beer from Boatyard before, but I know they really started distributing a lot in my area and after this taste of theirs, you better be sure that I’m going to be on the lookout for it in the future.

HOMES Brewery has only been around for a short time, but it’s caused a wave in the Ann Arbor brewing scene. From their minimal yet colorful aesthetic to the risks they take on their taproom menu, it feels like every move by HOMES is a calculated one. Same Same Different is an extension of that, and it’s what I’m sharing with you today.

It’s not fall until you see Hazel’s Nuts on the shelves. Don’t worry, you don’t have to notify the authorities, Hazel’s Nuts is a 10% Imperial Stout aged in bourbon barrels with coffee and hazelnut from those fine folks at Odd Side Ales.
