In today’s video I’m putting Old Nation’s Boss Tweed in a side by side comparison with Ascension Brewing Company’s Reclassified. Both New England Style Double IPAs are going head 2 head to see which comes out on top. Ever since first trying this new version of Reclassified about 6 months ago, I knew it was a perfect competitor for Boss Tweed, which has been my favorite New England style Double IPA to date. Ascension Brewing Company in Novi, Michigan has quietly been releasing several great beers, and one of their tried and true brews has been Reclassified, a New England Style Double IPA. At 8.5% ABV, Reclassified is brewed with honey and double dry hopped with Citra hops. Does Reclassified contain any unknown secrets of the universe? Watch and find out!

Transient Artisan Ales – Rainbows and Waterfalls Double IPA

Transient is always highly regarded and highly sought after. I’ve enjoyed what I’ve had from them, but I’ve yet to be wowed. Does Rainbows and Waterfalls prove to be the one that wows me, or does the price tag outweigh the enjoyment?

Rochester Mills – Juice Deuce Uncut

Last year, Rochester Mills released their first attempt at a New England Style IPA – Juice Bigalow.  This year they’re back with a sequel – a double New England style IPA called Juice Deuce Uncut.  For this effort, it clocks in at 8.5% ABV and tries to differentiate itself from last years beer.  Will the Juice Deuce bomb, or become a blockbuster?  Watch and see!

Old Vs. New – Boss Tweed

I took a look in my fridge and realized that I had two different batches of Old Nation Brewing’s Double New England Style IPA – Boss Tweed. That got me thinking… does freshness in an NE IPA really matter? Both were sitting in my fridge since they were purchased, one was just newer than the other. How much difference could it really make, and would I be able to notice a difference if I tried them side by side?
