Shorts Psychedelic Cat Grass – Triple Hopped IPA Review

Psychedelic Cat Grass by Short’s is made and shipped as fresh as possible. The pack I picked up was actually bottled the same day I bought it. This triple hopped IPA beauty may be too piney for some fans, but it teases with enough citrus sweetness to win me over. This is my first review of a Short’s beer since their 20% sale to Lagunitas, and I’m going to be as objective as possible when reviewing their beers going forward. (more…)

Old Nation’s Boss Tweed – Double NE IPA Review – The Juiciest Yet?

After my maiden voyage to Old Nation’s Brewery in Williamston, MI – I knew I had to bring home a sample to taste and show off for you all and come one step closer to completing the quadrilogy that is my Old Nation New Orthodox IPA series of reviews.

Right Brain Brewery – CEO Stout – Coffee Stout Review

Right Brain Brewery’s CEO Stout is a coffee stout with just enough up front sweetness to draw you in, and the coffee kick to keep you coming back for more.

Frankenmuth Brewery – “The Hef” Hefeweizen Review

Frankenmuth Brewery is the oldest brewery in the state of Michigan, and today I try their flagship hefeweizen, “The Hef” – a 5.2% ABV beauty.

I pull out all the stops, including the weizen glass, and I show you the fanciest of fancy ways to pour them. Hefeweizens are known for their cloudy appearance which is due to the high volume of unfiltered wheat and yeast, which also help to contribute to the banana and clove flavors that they typically have.

Come check out The Hef with me.

Founders DKML Malt Liquor Review

Today, I’m checking out Founders 4th in their 2017 barrel aged series lineup – DKML. I compare it to the Old Nation and Dark Horse Collaboration “The German Hobo”, which is another Michigan Malt Liquor in the same vein as DKML – the difference is that DKML is Bourbon Barrel Aged, giving it a heavier alcohol taste.

While DKML is the fourth in their bourbon barrel aged series, Backwoods Bastard is slated to release in November and another to be announced beer will be released in December.

Watch to see the first step in my attempt to bend the laws of physics with DKML. (more…)
